Library Management Hot Topics PanelistW. Lee Hisle
W. Lee Hisle is Vice President for Information Services and Librarian at Connecticut College. Prior to his appointment in 2000, he served as Associate Vice President of Learning Resources Services and Faculty Development for the Austin (TX) Community College District, one of the largest community colleges in the nation. Active in professional associations, he is a past President of the Association of College and Research Libraries, and was the Chair of the Tenth ACRL Conference, held in Denver in 2001. He has recently completed a term on the North East Regional Computing Program Board of Directors. Currently, he is Treasurer of NELINET, the New England regional network for OCLC. Lee received his B.A. in English from Berea College in Kentucky, his M.S.L.S. from the University of Kentucky, and his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. “Effective academic library management involves trust and partnerships, developed over time, with faculty, staff and students. Longevity in management can thus be a boon to the organization. A good manager however, is also a leader that maintains a progressive atmosphere of invention and curiosity and brings a fresh outlook to the organization.”
