Library Education: Facing New Realities

Dan O'Connor is an LIS faculty member at Rutgers University where he has been active in the University Senate, Faculty Council, and AAUP. He was a member of ALA Council and he is currently Chair of the ALA Committee on Education.

"Professional librarians complain when LIS education carves out new frontiers and ignores traditional library concerns. But when professional librarians ignore traditional concerns and when they carve out new frontiers for the field, they call it Library 2.0 and rarely mention LIS education."
