Rick Anderson Rick Anderson earned his B.S. and M.L.I.S. degrees at Brigham Young University. Before assuming his current position as Director of Resource Acquisition at the University of Nevada, Reno, he worked as a bibliographer for Yankee Book Peddler, Inc., as Head Acquisitions Librarian for the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and as Electronic Resources and Serials Coordinator at Nevada. He serves on the editorial boards of ACQNET, Serials and Library Collections, Acquisitions and Technical Services and edits the Sound Recording Reviews column for Notes (the quarterly journal of the Music Library Association). He writes a regular op-ed column for Against the Grain entitled “In My Humble (But Correct) Opinion.”, and his book, Buying and Contracting for Resources and Services: A How-to-Do-It Manual for Librarians, was published in 2004 by Neal-Schuman. Betsy Baker Betsy Baker is a library consultant and educator; she has been an academic librarian for over twenty years at the University of Illinois and Northwestern University and currently and currently teaches at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. She has been an active proponent of user education and outreach services in libraries, and a promoter of the educational mission of the library. Betsy is a member-at-large on the executive committee of the University Libraries Section of the American Library Association, and chairs its Current Topics Discussion Group. Steven Bell Steven J. Bell is Associate University Librarian for Research and Instructional Services at Temple University. Prior to that he was Director of the Paul J. Gutman Library at Philadelphia University and Assistant Director at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also earned his Ed.D. in 1997. He writes and speaks frequently on topics such as information retrieval, library and learning technologies, and academic librarianship. An Adjunct Professor at the Drexel University College of Information Science and Technology, he teaches courses in academic librarianship and information retrieval. He maintains a Web site and Weblog, “Steven Bell’s Keeping Up Web Site” and “The Kept-Up Academic Librarian”, that promote current awareness skills and resources. Steven is a co-founder of the Blended Librarian’s Online Learning Community on the Learning Times Network and has participated in numerous virtual presentations. He blogs for ACRLog, ACRL’s official Weblog. He is the co-author of the recently published book “Academic Librarianship by Design: A Blended Librarian’s Guide to the Tools and Techniques. Liz Bishoff Liz Bishoff is currently the Assistant to the President for Cultural Heritage Institutions, OCLC. Her previous positions include Vice President for Digital Collections and Metadata Services and Executive Director of the Colorado Digitization Program. Liz has worked with libraries and museums across the country on various aspects of their collaborative digitization initiatives. Archana Bokka Archana Bokka is a junior at Waubonsie Valley High School. Although both of her parents migrated from India, Archana has lived in the United States her entire life. She has had the privilege of experiencing both the culture of the United States and the Hindu culture with which her parents were raised. Archana participates in her school's choirs and trains in classical Indian dance. Some of her hobbies include dancing, singing, playing the guitar, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. During the summer, Archana volunteers at the Bensenville (IL) Public Library and the Naperville (IL) Public Library. Archana particpated in the following teleconference:
Rohini Bokka Rohini Bokka has been the Technical Services Manager at the Naperville (IL) Public Library for the past five years. Prior to that assignment, she was the Head of Technical Services at the Bensenville (IL) Community Public Library District. Rohini was born and raised in India where she attended American Missionary School from grade K-12. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and a Master's Degree in World History from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. She migrated to the United States in 1977 to join the Graduate School of Library Science at the University of Mississippi. During her graduate school years, she worked in the Periodicals and Reference Departments of the University Library. Since receiving her degree, Rohini has worked in Academic, Public, and Special Libraries in various departments. D. Scott Brandt D. Scott Brandt, a.k.a. Techman, is an assistant professor of library and information service at Purdue University. In addition to training, teaching and doing research, Scott Brandt is a nationally known presenter of workshops that apply new models of learning to training on Internet-related topics. Vandella Brown Vandella Brown is the Illinois Library Diversity Program Director for the Illinois State Library, a division of the Office of Secretary of State Jesse White. Ms. Brown has twenty years of experience working with libraries and information technology. Her career has touched many phases of public libraries and marketing urban libraries. She has a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa; a Doctoral Degree in Philosophy from the University of Berkley, Berkley, Michigan; and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee. She has worked at leading libraries in the United States -- Memphis & Shelby Co. Public Library, Columbus Metropolitan Library; East St. Louis Public Library; and the OCLC Online Library Center Network. Ms. Brown is the author of several books, including Celebrating the Family: Steps to Planning a Family Reunion, and articles on library science, including "African-American Fiction: A Slamming Genre," American Libraries, October 1998. Joan Budilovsky Joan Budilovsky has been studying, practicing, and teaching Yoga for 20 years. She has taught classes at College of DuPage, and numerous organizations and health clubs. Ms. Budilovsky has developed classes and learning materials, as well as co-authored books, on yoga, meditation, and message. Currently, she writes a newspaper advice column for Liberty Suburban Newspapers and teaches yoga at Columbia College. She also gives seminars around the globe, teaching yoga, meditation, and massage as avenues in stress reduction. Leslie Burger Leslie Burger is the Director of the Princeton Public Library in Princeton, New Jersey and founder of Library Development Solutions (LDS). Before joining the Princeton Public Library, Leslie served as a development consultant at the New Jersey State Library, served as Executive Director of the Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative and was the LSTA Coordinator at the Connecticut State Library. Frank Cervone Frank Cervone is the Assistant University Librarian for Information Technology at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and is author of four books and numerous articles on topics in applied information technology. Scott Collard Scott Collard received his MSLIS from UIUC, an MA from University of Chicago, and a BA from CU-Boulder, and is currently an Assistant Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He took a leading role in the selection and implementation of the library's virtual reference system, and now serves as administrator and trainer for the system. John’s research focuses on reference work and technology, especially in terms of usability and user-centered design; and he currently heads up a team investigating the integration of customizable library portals into the virtual library environment. Sharon Comstock Sharon Comstock is a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, researches information and technology cultures in K-16 learning environments. She is currently a graduate researcher with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at UIUC, and is collaborating with the University of Queensland, Australia, University of Chicago Web Institute for Teachers, and College of DuPage in separate projects studying the use of visualization tools in science and mathematics, cybraries, and library technologies that serve youth. Walt Crawford Walt Crawford is a senior analyst at RLG in Mountain View, California, and has been a full-time professional in library automation since 1968. He was president of the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association, in 1992 - 1993. An award-winning writer and speaker, Walt has written fourteen books and more than 400 articles and columns,including the "disContent" column in EContent Magazine, and the "PC Monitor" column in Online Magazine.
