Eric Lease Morgan

Eric Lease Morgan is the Head of Digital Access and Information Architecture Department at the University Libraries of Notre Dame. He considers himself to be a librarian first and a computer user second. His professional goal is to discover new ways to use computers to increase library collections and improve library services. Eric has been practicing open access publishing and open source software distribution since before the phrases were coined.

Some of Eric’s more notable investigations have surrounded the automatic collection of electronic serials, the indexing of open access content, and the personalization of library websites. He authors the "Top Tech Trends" columns for upcoming ALA conferences, also posted on the LITA blog; and is the “keeper” of the Infomotions Musings on Information and Librarianship blog. The vast majority of Eric's publications are available online, and the same is true for all the software he has written.

Marshall Breeding

Marshall Breeding is the Director for Innovative Technologies and Research for the Jean and Alexander Heard Library at Vanderbilt University and serves as the Executive Director of the Vanderbilt Television News Archive. At Vanderbilt, he provides assistance in developing the strategic directions of the library related to technology; designs and develops digital library applications, helps the library obtain and execute grant-funded projects, and works toward helping the library discover, implement, or create technologies that will improve its services. He also participates in the development of new initiatives in the VU libraries related to technology, especially those related to the creation of digital collections.

Marshall is the creator of the Library Technology Guides website (www.librarytechnology.org). He writes a monthly column for Computers in Libraries, is a contributing editor for Smart Libraries Newsletter published by ALA TechSource, writes Library Journal Automation Marketplace features, has contributed to numerous editions of Library Technology Reports, serves on the editorial boards for Information Standards Quarterly. He has authored numerous other publications on library technology, and is a frequent speaker at library conferences, throughout the United States and internationally.
