Ken Burns, PhD, MS, RN

 

Since 1998, Dr. Burns has been the associate chair at Northern Illinois University School of Nursing. Prior to this time, he was a faculty member and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner program (1996-1998) at Drake University. Ken was at the University of Minnesota from 1974 to 1996. He has published research in the areas of depression, stress appraisals, and therapeutic hand massage to promote relaxation and decrease agitation behaviors in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. He has received approximately 2 million dollars in funding, and is an active member of the Midwest Nursing Research Society.
