Unit 2: Overview of PregnancyTo understand the assessment and nursing care of the pregnant client, it is important to look at the physiologic changes and related discomforts that occur as a result of pregnancy. This unit covers the physiologic changes that occur in the mother and the discomforts of pregnancy.
Unit 3: Psychological Changes in the FamilyA pregnancy affects all members of the family. Everyone must adapt to the pregnancy in a way that meets their individual needs. Family members can help one another work through various feelings and concerns. Stress is a guaranteed aspect of pregnancy even when the pregnancy was planned and desired. This section covers the psychological changes that may occur in the mother, father, siblings and grandparents.

Unit 5: Prenatal CareThis unit discusses the importance of prenatal care and how it is planned for the individual client based on assessment of risks identified prior to and during pregnancy. Health promotion, education, and healthcare interventions focus on providing preventative care. It is divided into content that addresses
Unit 6: Client TeachingClient teaching is emphasized throughout the program. However, specific content not covered elsewhere in the program is covered in Unit 6. The content is arranged by trimester.
Unit 7: Self TestThis unit consists of a test bank of 15 items. The test bank questions were designed to address all levels of difficulty. Knowledge and comprehension questions are used to ensure the student has mastered the necessary foundation. Application and analysis questions are used to test the student’s ability to apply the information to client situations. Immediately after answering a question, the student is given feedback. This feedback is helpful in correcting any misunderstandings the student may have. After taking the test, the student may print out the results. Feedback relative to the correct answer is provided. The questions contained in the self test are included in the manual. You may use these questions when preparing your own classroom tests.
