The Neonate Tutorial

 

Units 1 - 10

The Neonate is divided into the following units:

  1. Cardiovascular System   
  2. Gastrointestinal System
  3. Hematopoietic System 
  4. Immune System
  5. Musculoskeletal System  
  6. Nervous System
  7. Respiratory System 
  8. Sensory/Perception
  9. Urogenital/Renal System 
  10. Metabolic and Endocrine System 

Each unit is divided into the following sections:

  • Prior to Birth – Discusses important fetal development.
  • Adaptation at Birth – Discusses the changes that occur during the transitional period.
  • Newborn Assessment and Nursing Care – Explains the key assessments and nursing care of the neonate. Video clips provide a real look at assessment of the neonate.
  • What Can Go Wrong – Discusses common anomalies and pathophysiology.

Unit 11: Self Test

This unit consists of a test bank of 20 items. The test bank questions were designed to address all levels of difficulty. Knowledge and comprehension questions are used to ensure the student has mastered the necessary foundation. Application and analysis questions are used to test the student's ability to apply the information to client situations.
